Our commitments to your child
Hello Saint Nicholas is a small project, made with care. Here, simply put, is what we promise parents.
1. A parent is always there
- The call is sold to parents, never to children.
- Before the call, you confirm that an adult stays next to the child for the whole call.
- You see the conversation appear on your screen during the call, and you can hang up at any time.
2. Saint Nicholas never sees your child
- Only the microphone is used: your child's image is never sent to Saint Nicholas or to us.
- If you choose to film your child's reaction as a keepsake, the video stays on your device. You decide whether to keep it.
3. We keep nothing about your child
- The call is not recorded: no voice, no image.
- What you tell us about your child is used only for the call, and we do not keep it.
- The little notebook at the end of the call stays on your device, not with us.
4. A gentle Saint who is never frightening
- He never judges your child: he never says they have been “good” or “naughty”.
- He never promises a present, and never makes a present depend on what the child does.
- He never asks for an address, a school or a secret. If your child brings one up, he kindly sends them back to their parents.
- Every sentence Saint Nicholas says goes through a second automatic check before it is spoken. If in doubt, he says a gentle sentence instead.
5. No advertising, no tricks
- No advertising during the call. Our offers are for parents, after the call, never for the child.
- Nothing is designed to keep your child in front of the screen: no points, no reward for coming back.
- A short call of about 5 minutes, ending with a real goodbye.
6. Honest with parents
- We say clearly that Saint Nicholas is a character brought to life by artificial intelligence. Like any AI, he can sometimes misunderstand: that is another reason an adult stays nearby.
- If the line drops, you can restart the call without paying again.
7. Respect for everyone
- You choose among three faces of Saint Nicholas.
- No frightening character comes with him, and his helpers are never a caricature.
Where these commitments come from
We based them on two public guides: UNICEF's guidance on artificial intelligence and children, and the IEEE 2089 standard on age-appropriate digital services. As far as we know, there is no independent label yet in Europe for AI made for children, so these commitments are our own. The day such a label exists, we will be glad to be among the first to be tested. We will improve them every time we learn something.
